The machine industry company Vítkovice Heavy Machinery has produced a large part of the particle accelerator magnet for JINR, Dubna and is now handing it over to the representatives of the institute. The dimensions of the resulting product, manufactured in Ostrava, are respectable. "The diameter of the center ring is 6.6 meters, the length of the complete set reaches nine meters, the height and width is 8 and 7.6 meters respectively, and the weight is 690 tons," said Daniel Kurucz, general manager of Vítkovice Heavy Machinery (VHM). The production of parts of the accelerator was preceded by the joint work of the VHM with JINR, Dubna on the production documentation. The value of all the work and supplies is in tens of millions of Czech crowns. The device itself is worth about 35 million Czech crowns.
